Ivalis was born and raised in San Antonio, and she and her husband have been raising their two children in District 8 for the last 15 years. She cares about our community, so as it grows, she wants to ensure we protect all the things that make it great.
After graduating from UTSA and St. Mary’s Law School, Ivalis served as Chief of Staff to the Mayor of San Antonio. In the San Antonio Business Journal’s 40 under 40 list, she was named “2021 Woman of the Year” for her role in organizing our community's response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
With meaningful experience in both the public and private sectors, Ivalis will be ready on day one to tackle the issues that matter to our community.
Nothing is more important than the safety and security of our families, homes, and businesses. As councilwoman, Ivalis will work to ensure that 911 response times are reduced, that we recruit and retain the best and brightest of police and fire, and that we actively engage with community to address and reduce crime throughout the entire district.
Many seniors in our community play vital roles in strengthening our local economy and safeguarding our neighborhoods. They deserve our utmost respect and appreciation. That’s why Ivalis is committed to prioritizing their needs. From enhancing senior centers to supporting initiatives that help retirees stay in their homes, Ivalis will advocate for policies that ensure seniors can age with dignity.
As our City grows, traffic and congestion inevitably increase. Ivalis recognizes that more cars on the road lead to greater wear and tear on our streets. As a councilwoman, she will advocate for District 8 to receive its fair share of the City Budget to address these infrastructure challenges. Additionally, she will ensure that critical drainage projects in our area are prioritized in upcoming bond programs.
Ivalis understands the vital role that parks and green spaces play in enhancing the quality of life for District 8 residents. As a mother of two school-aged children, she and her husband appreciate the value of local parks for keeping their kids physically active. When elected, Ivalis will prioritize investing in the renovation of existing parks and expanding hike and bike trails. As new developments arise, she will advocate for the creation of additional parks and the preservation of green spaces, ensuring that District 8 remains an attractive community for new residents and families.
Our district boasts one of the strongest economies in San Antonio, thanks to the Medical Center and numerous corporate headquarters. However, Ivalis believes there is always room for improvement. As councilwoman, she will focus on protecting and supporting local businesses, particularly those affected by construction zones that impact their bottom line. Ivalis will collaborate closely with the City's Economic Development office to ensure that District 8 businesses have the resources and support they need to thrive.
